LARGEST VOLCANO:
The largest volcano is Mount Mazama. Mount Mazama is a distroyed volcano the height of it was 12,000 ft but and eruption made it 1,900 ft.
ACTIVE, NON ACTIVE VOLCANOES:
A volcano that has not been active for a long time is called a dormant. The volcano will erupt in the future but nobody can determan the exact date. Volcanoes that are dead will not erupt again but some will erupt unexpectedly and it could be huge.
There have been more active volcanoes but it might be that mre volcanoes are just being recorded.
The most active volcano is Kilaoea. It is located in the middle of the Pacific ocean. It has been erupting ever since 1983. Kilaua has erupted over fifty times.
VOLCANOES
MAGMA:
Magma is moltem of rock, stored beneth the Earth's surface. The temperture of this hot fluid can range from 1292 degrees to 2372 degrees.
HOW MAGMA IS FORMED:
Temperture and pressure rise with depth, eventually reaching to a level where in the strongest rock is melted and turned into a liquid which is called magma.
WHAT MAGMA IS MADE OF:
Magma is primarily made of elements like oxygen, silicon, aluminum, iron, magnesium, titanium, calcium, potassiam, and phosphorous. As the amount of oxygen and silicon in the moltem matter is high, it is ideal to different types of magma depending on its silicon content.
VOLCANOES:
Volcanoes were here since the earth started forming and played a great part in the process. Volcanoes are volcanic tube stretching below the Earth's crust that allows volcanic rock to the surface of the Earth. Most of the time the lava and volcanic rock have trouble breaking through the top of the volcano. The magma builds up until it breaks through the top.
Sometimes the explosion is so great it wipes out entire cities.
MOST FAMOUS VOLCANIC ERUPTIONS:
The Pompeii Eruption
In 79 A.D., Mount Vesuviusn in Italy eruption and do to the amount of ash that the volcano spred out all the inhabitants of Pompeii were intombed in a layer of heated rock, this is probably one of the most famous eruptions of all time.
VOLCANOES:
SHIELD: Wider than it is high. Made of lava that flows rather than explodes
CINDER CONE: Looks cone from shaped layers cinder and ash that blow off the volcano's tops.
COMPOSITE: Looks like a tall mountain with steep sides and layers of ash and lava. Its hight and steep because of its thick lava does not travel far before it hardens. This volcano can have a crater as well.
